Age is a number. Just a number. And not even a number set in stone, like Pi. It's a flexible number that varies on the individual. That why "Age Laws" are ridiculous. In the state of Michigan you have to 15 to get your driver's license. You have to be 16 to purchase a hunting knife. (You can, however, buy a kitchen cleaver at any age). At 16 or 17 you can legally consent to sex. At 18 you can buy cigarettes and lottery tickets, gamble at the casinos and vote. At age 21, you can legally drink. That's just in Michigan, it may vary in your state or country. I did everything on that list (except vote) before I was legally allowed to. It didn't corrupt me morally. It didn't destroy my life or whatever other excuse may be use to rationalize these laws. I bring this up because I just saw someone go to jail for selling alcohol to a 19 year old. 2 years in jail and a fine. Basically a person's life is ruined because they allowed someone to purchase something they are old enough to buy in another part of the world. Kinda seems like a waste of resources to incarcerate an individual because of such a flexible law.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, I've read all the God and gun debates plastered all over the internet the past 24 hours. There is a large number of people saying if God (and they really mean religion) was allowed in schools this wouldn't happen. Belief in God wouldn't have prevented this. Do you realize there have been at least 14 Popes murdered for defending their faith? There have also been 6 Popes not martyred and 12 others allegedly murdered. Religious beliefs are irrelevant to murder. Gun control isn't a solution to this problem. Remove all the guns and there will still be murder. Jim Jones did it with cyanide, Timothy McVeigh killed with racing fuel, fertilizer and household chemicals. Open carry, concealed carry or any other version of arming every average citizen, isn't a solution either. Do you really want a school or theater or a mall full of hundreds of people carrying guns? There's just too much room for human error. Politics and religion make their points with misinformation and fear. When well educated people will eagerly follow, like and share any meme posted on social media websites, it becomes clear that the problem with this country is stupidity and it can't be fixed with politics or religion.
Business are starting to open for Black Friday sales early on Thanksgiving. This isn't new, it's slowly been heading that way. It isn't because Walmart is trying to keep its workers from being with their families on the holiday. Target isn't trying to turn everyone into atheists, besides Thanksgiving isn't a religious holiday anyway. Do you want to know why they are opening on Thanksgiving? It's because of what I saw last night at Best Buy, 3 tents outside the building. 3 days before the sales even begin people are lining up. The obvious next step for a retailer is to open the doors earlier. Would you rather have your customers waiting outside for you to open or would you rather have them inside buying stuff? The solution isn't to boycott the retailers, the solution is to stop being self-centered me first consumers. Don't worry, Apple will make enough "iWhatevers" to go around. There's no special reward for being the first to get it.
I came across this post online and had to share. Epic joke fail. One person that couldn't tell a joke and one person that didn't get it. The names have been changed to protect the ignorant.
Dxxxx Jxxxxxx: OMG i AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY DVD I KEEP TRYING TO RECORD THE BIGGEST LOSER AND IT KEEPS RECORDING DUKE BASKETBALL......WELL I GUESS IT REALLY DID RECORD THE BIGGEST LOSER LOL
"One question that has been settled this election cycle is that the people who work for the main stream media are nothing more than democratic party operatives with a byline.
Believe nothing they write or say, ignore them, turn them off and buy nothing from the companies that advertise in their publications or on their shows!" I was sent this on Facebook, I'm not sure who originally wrote it. Mainstream media usually means: CBS News, CNN, ABC News, Fox News, MSNBC, New York Times, Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. Most of these are owned by larger corporations so you have to boycott the parent company and all subsidiaries, right? And that quote calls for a boycott of any business that advertises on them. CBS News is owned by CBS, so if you boycott CBS you have to boycott CBS television and its 14 stations CBS radio and all of its 125+ stations All CBS online including Last.fm and CNET Simon & Schuster and it's various imprints The CW, Showtime, The Movie Channel, FLIX and SET CNN is Time-Warner. I'm not sure I have time to list everything they own, but it includes everything from cable channels, movie studios, magazines (including D.C. Comics). ABC News is Disney. If you thought Time-Warner had a long list, Disney's is almost double. Fox News obviously Fox and Rupert Murdoch owns a shitload of media also. The Washington Post Co. owns a handful of print media and television stations, as does the New York Times, and the L.A. Times is a Tribune Company which owns media, print, radio and internet outlets. So the person calling for this boycott is basically telling you no matter how small a business is, if they advertise on one of the assets owned by the above companies, don't buy from them. Don't buy anything from your uncle that advertises his hardware store on local station WKBD in Detroit because that station is owned by the mainstream media. Are you starting to see how ridiculous this boycott sounds? If you know anything about me, you know that I pretty much believe that there is no black and white. That isn't any different with unions. My job is non-union, I don't believe a union would benefit me in my job. That doesn't mean I don't understand the benefit of unions, in certain situations for certain jobs, unions are great, just not for mine. The last thing I want is some organization trying to force their beliefs on me. Think of it this way: I'm pro-bacon, I think it's the greatest thing in the world, but I understand that bacon shouldn't be combined with... no, you know what, bad analogy, bacon goes great with everything. Unions aren't bacon, so keep your pro-union organization away from my job
How different is your life today than it was 4 years ago? Did it change that much? Was it for the better or worse? Were those changes cause by an elected official? I have a better job and a better car, I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with politics. 2009, that year sucked. I'll admit, I pissed and moaned and blamed others, but I soon realized what the problem was, me. Once I started taking responsibility for my own actions things got a hell of a lot better. It's not the President's fault your life sucks. Then again, I did have a girlfriend in 2008 and I'm single in 2012. I think Obama might be cock-blocking me.
Cats are cute, there's no denying that. I just hope they use better feline grammar than the memes portray. No you cannot "haz cheezburger" until you learn to ask properly. The sad thing is, somebody paid $2,000,000 for that website.
At work the other day I noticed that there is a display of processed cheese slices, in the middle of the aisle, sitting at room temperature. I asked the manager if they should be refrigerated and he told me that they can sit out for seven days unrefrigerated. I don't know what bothers me more, the fact that they do sit out for seven days, or the fact that they can!
This is for all the people on Ebay, Craig's List or any other website where you're trying to sell stuff, TAKE A PICTURE OF THE ITEM YOU'RE SELLING!!!!! If you don't post a picture, I'm going to assume it's a scam. If you're selling a collection of albums or movies, LIST EVERY ITEM IN THE COLLECTION!! Don't just put "100 DVDs $100" not all movies or albums are created equal, some just aren't worth the money. This also goes for anyone trying to rent or sell a house. Don't put bullshit lines in your ads. "Quiet sunrise side home in Saginaw" is a lie. I know the sun rises in the east and the people get shot on the east side of Saginaw. "Home needs a little TLC" is bullshit if it needs new windows, drywall, siding, carpet and a roof. A little TLC is a home that needs to be painted. As for online date seekers, if you put that you're "average size" when you're 5 foot 2 and 250lbs, you're not average size. Sorry, but you're fat. Your BMI is 45.7 and you're actually considered obese. And these people wonder why they can't sell their shit or get a date. Oh Shit! I almost forgot about the employers, if you're posting an ad for a job, but you won't tell us the name of the company or even what you do, DON'T BOTHER! If you put "Outside salesperson needed for national retailer" I'm going to assume you mean "Door-to-door Kirby Vacuum sales" END OF RANT!
